As far as my memory goes back I recall that I have always been in love. What I do not remember clearly is with what or with whom?
I think I was just in love with love.
Even without falling in love, I somehow knew this emotion inside out. So it was not surprising that I became the official love-letter writer for an entire clan of desperate lovers at college.
They said that my love letters had a hit rate of 110 percent. Whatever that meant:) And little did I know that this would be a start to a career of writing Ads and Films.
Love came to me not always in the form of a person but sometimes as my favourite toy, as colours, as a brush, as a bicycle, as basketball, as a good film, as the craft of advertising, and much later as friendship, when I met a girl who later on became my life partner.
If you ask me what is the secret of a successful relationship, I would simply say be in love. Not necessarily with something or someone but be in Love with Love itself.
It is easy I tell you, as every millimetre of our being is made up of this very substance.
If that seems a bit too poetic or abstract, here are a few practical secrets.
Make a small resolution as early in your life that you would love at least ONE person unconditionally. That your only desire shall be to make THAT person happy. That you shall accept that person as he or she is. And will not allow love to become transactional... No matter what...
So choose a friend, a stranger or anyone else that you wish to do this for. It's not too much to ask for considering we all are normal human beings. I tell you it will only introduce you to unfathomable depths of your being, to an ocean of unconditional love that has been hiding inside you.
And if you end up marrying that friend, or that stranger or that anyone else, always remember the reason why you were with that person in the first place.
Remember, that you were there for the Love of Love.
